Mancunian quartet, Palava return with their brand new single “Yesterday Is Calling”, a brilliant follow up to their previous song that will have you dialling the volume up to full whack and singing along to the lyrics.
I thoroughly enjoyed Palava’s last single “Just Look Into My Eyes” so I was looking forward to hearing their newest release, “Yesterday Is Calling.” Once again, the Manchester four piece have completely nailed the heavy rock and indie infusion with a powerful guitar opener, cleverly sprinkled with subtle hints of Mancunian Britpop. What I really love is the balance between the two, especially when you have softer tones in the chorus followed by a little guitar solo grabbing the spotlight and throwing you into the next verse. Vocalist and guitarist, Rob Whitehead comments that “it’s an old song, we’ve had in the vault for a long time.” and on discussion regarding the song’s lyrical content, explains that “it’s a message to people to get out and live your life more” evidenced by the line “got no interest in your high paid living, right now we’re just living.” No doubt a lot of music lovers will find this relatable after the last two years. Despite going for a heavier rock vibe in the last two singles, Rob tells us that their next track will be “a different sound, more slower and big choruses” and we can’t wait to hear it!
Already played and praised by Jim Salveson on XS Manchester, “Yesterday Is Calling” will be dropping just in time for Christmas on 17th December!
