London rock trio ‘Berries’

London rock band trio drop their first track since signing to Xtra Mile Recordings back in November. New single ‘Copy‘ is a melding pot of ideas, drawing influence from grunge to math-rock, with scuzzy guitars and eye-catching little licks and riffs that play over the crashing drums. For me there’s elements of Ash and Hole but also these trills remind me of post-emo and math bands like tiny moving parts, there really is a lot going on but it all comes together so perfectly to create a big wave of melodic noise with huge solos and killer riffs. According to Berries themselves the track is about “imitation and how we are programmed by society to try and live up to other people’s expectations of happiness and how unhealthy, self-critical and obsessive this way of existing can be”.

Berries are building a list of admirers that seems to know no end right now with fans like Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy, as well as online championing from Louder Than War and Fred Perry. They’ve played with acts like Porridge Radio and supporting Frank Turner at a socially distanced acoustic show in Nottingham. You can join the bands virtual launch party on their YouTube channel – 22nd Jan, 7pm GMT. with exclusive pre-recorded live performances from Berries. Check out ‘Copy‘ below:
